SVG to PNG Converter: what to know
SVG is a vector format: instead of pixels, it describes shapes, paths and text, so it stays sharp at any size and is ideal for logos, icons and illustrations. PNG is a raster format made of a fixed grid of pixels. Many apps, social platforms, office documents and email clients accept PNG but not SVG.
Converting renders the SVG in your browser at the size you choose, then saves the result as a PNG with transparency kept. Because the SVG is drawn fresh at the target size, a large PNG is just as crisp as a small one. Pick the dimensions for where the image will be used, such as twice the display size for sharp results on high-resolution screens.
The PNG matches how your browser draws the SVG. Files that rely on fonts installed on the original computer, or that link to external images or stylesheets, may render differently or without those parts, since the page can't fetch them. Converting text to outlines and embedding images in the SVG before exporting gives the most faithful result. Nothing is uploaded.
Popular uses
- Logos for documents, slides and email signatures
- Social media images and profile pictures
- Icons for apps and stores that require PNG
- Diagrams and charts exported from design tools
Tips for the best result
- Export at the largest size you need; you can always scale a PNG down.
- Outline text in your design tool if the font looks wrong.
- Check the transparent background on a dark surface before publishing.
