WOFF to TTF Converter: what to know
A WOFF file is a regular font whose tables have been compressed for the web. Unpacking it gives back a font you can install on Windows, macOS or Linux, open in a font editor or use in a design app. This converter does that in your browser, following the W3C WOFF 1.0 specification, without sending the font anywhere.
Each table is decompressed and checked against its stored length, then the font is reassembled with a proper table directory, alignment and checksums, including the whole-font checksum in the head table. The tables themselves come out exactly as they were before compression, so the font looks and behaves the same as the original.
Most WOFF files hold TrueType outlines and become a TTF directly. If yours holds CFF (PostScript) outlines, saving it as TTF converts the curves from cubic to quadratic without hinting, while saving it as OTF keeps the outlines untouched. Check the font's license before installing or redistributing it.
Popular uses
- Installing a website's self-hosted font for mockups and documents
- Inspecting a WOFF in a font editor
- Turning an old web font package back into a desktop font
Tips for the best result
- The converter shows the family, style and version: use them to name the TTF before installing.
- Damaged or truncated WOFF files are reported rather than saved, so redownload the font if that happens.
- Keep using WOFF2 or WOFF on your website: TTF files are larger to download.
